Julie Ann Brown is an American actress, comedian, singer-songwriter, screenwriter and director best known for her iconic 1980s « valley girl » persona and sharp celebrity parodies. She carved out a unique space in pop culture by blending pop music with subversive sketch comedy and achieved massive cult success with novelty hits like « Homecoming Queen’s Got a Gun » (a dark parody of mid-century teenage tragedy songs) and « ‘Cause I’m a Blond ».

To avoid confusion with her contemporary British MTV counterpart, « Downtown Julie Brown, » she was often referred to as « West Coast Julie Brown » or « Miss Julie Brown ».
